Classroom tables and chairs, office desks, and other furniture have now been moved in to Tykeson Hall in preparation for the opening of the building in September. Contractors are putting finishing touches on the building: audio-visual systems have been started and calibrated, heating and cooling systems commissioned, and a new, faster internet connection is live!
Last week at the residence hall, scaffolding on the north side of the building was removed. Metal panels are now being installed on its east side along Century Drive.
In the dining building, the epoxy floor was installed in the kitchen this week and kitchen equipment will soon follow. As crews finish the exterior of the residence hall, they will begin installing the exterior skin on the dining building.
Throughout the 10-acre campus, sidewalks are being finished, lighting is being turned on, and top soil is being installed in preparation for landscaping. In the coming weeks bike racks, benches, waste receptacles, emergency call boxes, and other furniture will be installed.
If you haven’t already, please mark your calendar for September 13. OSU-Cascades will celebrate the grand opening of Tykeson Hall starting at 11:00 a.m.
