With most of the structural work complete on the academic building, the systems that will make the building function are being installed. Last week subcontractors began installing plumbing for drains, restroom fixtures, laboratories, and the hydronic heating system. Ductwork, which will supply fresh air to the building, is also being installed.
On the exterior of the academic building, framing for windows is now visible on the east side of the building facing Century Drive.
Workers will continue to rough-in the mechanical, plumbing, and electrical systems and install the exterior framing for several weeks to come.
Along Century Drive, formwork for the retaining wall that will support the sidewalk is nearly complete. Weather permitting, crews will be able to pour concrete and backfill the wall in the next week.
At the residence hall, crews have been working to install foundations and plumbing under the future first floor slab. The freezing temperatures and moisture over the last few weeks have made this job difficult. OSU-Cascades is working closely with the contractor to prioritize work and adjust the overall schedule to ensure minimal impact to completion date of the project.
