Back to Campus Construction Updates

The street improvements along Century Drive are nearly complete and crews will finish landscaping, striping and signage in the near future. The large pull-out area constructed on Century Drive is for a new bus shelter OSU-Cascades is developing with a grant from the Governor’s Regional Solutions Center in partnership with Cascades East Transit and the City of Bend. The smaller pull-out area is for emergency vehicle access.

In the coming weeks crews will focus on Chandler Avenue to complete street and pedestrian safety improvements. Please exercise caution when traveling through the work zone.

Tykeson Hall is rapidly approaching completion and the scheduled move-in date is September 6. Most of the work has moved to the interior of the building. Fire alarms and building control systems are being completed in anticipation of Certificate of Occupancy in August. This week, a team from OSU’s campus in Corvallis arrived to install state-of-the-art A/V systems in our classrooms, which will allow faculty to teach in new ways and provide an enhanced classroom experience for OSU-Cascades students.

Next week the sidewalks on the south side of Tykeson Hall will be completed and light poles will be installed in the parking lot.

Crews continue to make progress on the exterior of the residence hall, installing cedar siding and flashing. On the interior, the elevator is nearly complete and crews are continuing to paint rooms and install fixtures.

In the dining building, much of the rough-in work for the electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems is complete. Crews will install flooring in the kitchen and begin to paint interior walls in preparation for the installation of kitchen equipment.
