We were thrilled when earlier this week, in an address to our community members, Oregon State University’s president, Ed Ray, announced the name of the academic building now under construction: Tykeson Hall.
Tykeson Hall, which will open this fall was named in honor of the Tykeson Family Foundation. The Tykeson family has supported OSU-Cascades since 2012, when the family’s initial $1 million gift launched OSU-Cascades’ first capital campaign. More recently, the Foundation committed an additional $1 million toward the next phase of expansion in Bend. We are very appreciative of the Tykeson family’s generous support and commitment.
A number of critical milestones have been achieved on the continued construction of Tykeson Hall. Power was connected to the building, as were phone and fiber optic lines, and important elevator components were delivered. In the coming weeks, the elevator will be installed and finishes will be installed on the exterior of Tykeson Hall.
In the residence hall, crews are preparing to start painting one end of the building, while framing of walls and the roof wraps up on the other end. Finishes on the exterior of this building will also begin in the next few weeks.
Framing of the dining center is nearly complete, with crews moving to the interior of the building to work on interior walls and begin the installation of mechanical and electrical systems.
