The Teacher and Counselor Education programs prepare the teachers and counselors of tomorrow with exceptional in-classroom instruction using a cohort model where students form strong bonds as they progress through their coursework together.
The Master of Arts in Teaching program offers a graduate degree with Oregon Licensure in elementary, middle and high school subject areas, as well as ongoing coursework to support continuing learning and licensure, and ESOL endorsement coursework. OSU-Cascades nationally accredited Master of Counseling program provides the theory and practice to enable you to deliver professional counseling services in a clinical mental health or school setting.
The graduate teaching program at OSU-Cascades is nationally accredited by NCATE, the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education, the standard of excellence in teacher preparation.
The graduate counseling program is accredited by the Council for Accrediting Counseling and Related Educational Programs, (CACREP), the gold standard in graduate counseling programs. This accreditation allows the student to take exams needed to meet initial eligibility requirements for licensure as an Oregon Licensed Professional Counselor. The program is recognized by the Oregon Board of Licensed Professional Counselors and the National Board of Certified Counselors as meeting the coursework requirements for state licensing and national certification.
Students are placed in local schools and agencies throughout Central Oregon to complete student teaching and counseling practicums. OSU-Cascades is considered a partner of choice within the local school districts.
The cohort-based teaching and counseling programs begin each June.
