Bend is a growing city surrounded by mountains, forests and high desert rangeland. It has lots to offer new students, from outdoor activities and festivals, to amazing places to intern and volunteer. And while it’s growing, Bend is still small enough that your contributions will make a difference.
Bend is minutes from world-class skiing at Mt. Bachelor, and that’s just the beginning. Central Oregon is known for an extensive mountain bike trail system, fishing and playing on the Deschutes River, hiking and camping at high mountain lakes, and Smith Rock, a rock-climbing mecca that attracts experts and first-time climbers. You’ll have a 2.5 million acre natural laboratory to gain hands-on experience in the outdoors.
From the BendFilm festival to Oregon Winterfest to First Friday Art Walks, Bend is home to a thriving local arts community. The summer concert series at the Les Schwab Amphitheater is walking distance from campus. Enjoy a musical at the historic Tower Theatre or attend a reading by a nationally recognized author.
