Department of Public Safety

The OSU-Cascades Department of Public Safety provides security services to the faculty, staff and students at the OSU-Cascades campus.

A safe and secure environment is made possible through each member of the OSU-Cascades community's involvement in crime prevention and sensible behavior.

In order to have a safe and successful OSU-Cascades experience, each person must take responsibility to recognize one's own vulnerability to crime and reduce risks through preventative action and cooperation with the Department of Public Safety.

Before emergencies occur, become familar with campus Emergency Management, Emergency Operations Plan and Emergency Procedures.

Emergency Notification

OSU-Cascades is part of the OSU Emergency Notification system (OSUAlert) and the Central Oregon Community College Emergency Notification System. Faculty, staff and students are strongly encouraged to subscribe in order to recieve notifications in the event an emergency.

Safety Escort

The Safety Escort program is available for students, faculty and staff who feel unsafe at night or during extreme weather conditions walking between the off-site lot, Graduate & Research Center, Annex and campus . In most circumstances, walking, public transit or bikeshare are safe travel options between those locations. Safety escorts are public safety officers and may walk, bike or use a public safety vehicle to provide the escort. Call 541-322-3110 for a safety escort. The service is offered:

Monday, Tuesday: 7 a.m. to midnight
Wednesday-Saturday: 7 a.m. to 3 a.m.
Sunday: 7 a.m. to midnight

Automated External Defibrillators

AEDs (Automated External Defibrillators) have been installed in each building.

  • Tykeson Hall - Located next to elevator on all three floors
  • Graduate & Research Center - Located outside kitchen on first floor
