Academic Advising

Learn with advising

  • Read your OSU-Cascades First-Year advising syllabus to learn the role advising plays in your successful transition to OSU-Cascades, concepts and terminology essential to your first-year, and how to build a strong relationship with your academic advisor.
  • Review the OSU Learning Goals for Graduates.
  • Connect with your advisor. Advisors help students with difficult decisions, registration preparation and working through challenges throughout your academic career.
  • Plan out your term. Use a planner, or G Suite calendar to keep track of due dates, exams, syllabi management, study times and other important dates.
  • The Academic Calendar provides students with University deadlines such as Phase 1 registration dates and course withdraw deadlines.
  • Contact your instructors, find out their office hours and email addresses so you can connect with them when you need help. They want you to ask questions.
  • Check out academic tutoring and the OSU Learning Corner resources to help you when it comes time for mid terms and finals.
