Bank of the Cascades Foundation has established a needs-based scholarship fund for incoming freshmen at Oregon State University - Cascades.  The Foundation recently gave $50,000 to OSU’s growing campus in Bend to assist first-year students who might not otherwise be able to afford college.

“The Foundation serves to support Bank of the Cascades’ commitment to making a positive difference in communities where we do business,” said Terry Zink, chief executive officer. “We believe that supporting young people’s dreams to pursue a college education at OSU-Cascades will create a vibrant future for the students, as well as for our entire community.”

Bank of the Cascades, with headquarters in Bend and branches throughout the Northwest, has a long history of community participation and giving, and has provided scholarship support for OSU-Cascades students since 2004.  The bank’s most recent gift, the first from its foundation, will support students from low-income families in Oregon, Idaho and Washington.

“I witness the transformative power of scholarships on a daily basis,” said Jane Reynolds, director of enrollment services and student success at OSU-Cascades. “Bank of the Cascades Foundation’s scholarship support has the capacity to change the lives of student recipients and in doing so support ongoing economic vitality.”

More than half of OSU-Cascades students are the first in their families to attend college and half are eligible for federal financial aid.  Bank of the Cascades Foundation’s gift is slated to support eligible freshmen students through 2020.
