Information Session for elementary and secondary Master of Arts in Teaching programs

Oct 17, 2012

Oregon State University - Cascades invites individuals interested in teaching at the early childhood, elementary, middle or high school level to attend an Information Session with the faculty and staff of the Master of Arts in Teaching programs.  The sessions will be held in the Graduate & Research Center on Saturday, November 3 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., and will cover the MAT program requirements and admissions procedures, as well as the application process and deadlines. Information Sessions are free and reservations are not necessary.

OSU-Cascades' full-time MAT degree programs follow a cohort model with students taking the same classes at the same time. The programs are accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education and include student teaching experience in local public schools. Both programs begin in June 2013 and conclude in the summer of the following year.

The elementary teaching degree program provides graduates with a master's degree and an Oregon Initial I teaching license with authorizations in early childhood education and elementary education, serving age three through grade eight.

The secondary teaching degree program for middle and high school provides graduates with a master's degree and an Oregon Initial I Teaching License with authorizations to teach in grades five through 12.  Students choose from endorsements in language arts, social studies, mathematics or science.  Language arts and social studies include English as a Second Language (ESOL) emphasis.

The deadline to apply for either the elementary or secondary MAT program is Friday, November 30, 2012.

Prerequisite courses are offered throughout the 2012-13 academic year.
