OSU-Cascades Announces 2016 Distinguished Students

The Distinguished Student Award is one of the top honors given to students by members of the faculty at Oregon State University - Cascades. The annual award recognizes a graduating student from within each degree area for outstanding achievement in academics and contributions to their field.

Among the student honorees are:

  • Loren G. Bailey, Bend, Ore. - a social science major who served 24 years in the U.S. Army as top Arabic linguist, and hopes to pursue a teaching career
  • Anna Rose Swope, Prineville, Ore. -  a business major who launched a student entrepreneurship club and was hired by G5 to work in digital marketing
  • Chad Knight, Bend, Ore. -  an energy systems engineering major, whose unpaid internship at PCC Schlosser spawned four MECOP internships at the company.
  • Dulce Gabriela Pelayo – a human development and family sciences major who will be the first in her family to graduate from college. 

Marla Hacker, OSU-Cascades’ outgoing dean of academic programs and Vice President Becky Johnson will host an awards ceremony and reception for the honorees, their families and faculty on Saturday, June 11, from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m in Cascades Hall.
