OSU-Cascades offers coursework toward an English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) endorsement, open to our MAT candidates and Oregon licensed teachers.

ESOL Endorsement Requirements

  • Complete the six courses listed below with a 3.0/B average or higher;
  • Submit a satisfactory portfolio based on an instructional unit taught during ED 510;
  • Pass the NES ESOL Exam.

Courses Required for ESOL Endorsement:

ED 219 Civil Rights and Multicultural Issues in Education (3), which is offered at Central Oregon Community College and online through Ecampus, may be substituted for ED 522

Application Process

OSU-Cascades MAT candidates who plan to pursue the ESOL endorsement, must apply by February 2 of their student teaching year. Contact Jordon Zardinejad for more information.

Teachers who wish to add the ESOL endorsement to their current Oregon teaching license are asked to contact Stacey Lee for our program application. You may combine OSU-Cascades and Ecampus online coursework. More information
