In this special offering, OSU-Cascades Professor Emeritus and art historian Henry Sayre examines the transformation of contemporary art over the last half-century. You’ll survey world political and cultural events -- from the Tet Offensive in Vietnam to the birth of the digital age -- and the art and artists influenced by them.
Sayre taught and researched at OSU and OSU-Cascades for 30 years, earning awards for his teaching and service. He is the author nine books, co-editor of another, and has published widely in national and international journals. Two of his textbooks, both in their sixth editions, are used throughout the country -- an art appreciation text, “A World of Art,” and a writing guide, “Writing about Art.” Sayre retired from OSU-Cascades in 2015.
