OSU-Cascades has comprehensive Emergency Management website and provides training on the policies and procedures within our campus. The procedures provide direction for a variety of natural and human-caused disasters and emergencies.
Emergency Management can be found at: http://www.osucascades.edu/emergency-procedures
The Emergency Operations Plan can be found at: http://osucascades.edu/emergency/planning
Included in our Emergency Operations Plan are procedures for evacuations. OSU-Cascades has identified the on-site campus parking lot as the evacuation assembly area, and the Plan includes evacuation operations for those students and staff who are mobility-impaired.
Evacuation maps are posted in each classroom and the map of the evacuation assembly area is posted in each hallway of our campus.
OSU-Cascades has established an emergency notification system capable of notifying the campus community upon the confirmation of a significant emergency or dangerous situation involving an immediate threat to the health or safety of students or employees occurring on the campus. Students and staff are notified of the need to sign up for this notification system at required orientation sessions or when they begin employment.
OSU-Cascades strongly encourages everyone to register for this system at: http://osucascades.edu/osu-alert
The system will send alerts via email, text and telephonically.
In the event of an emergency described above, notification is made to the OSU-Cascades Incident Management Team which will determine if there is a significant emergency or dangerous situation involving an immediate threat to the health or safety of students or employees occurring on the campus. The IMT will determine the appropriate cross section of the campus community requiring notification, the content of the notification, and initiate the broadcast using the OSU Alert system.
The emergency notification may be sent through either the OSU or COCC system or both, depending on the nature of the incident and who may be affected.
Public Safety Officers along with any local emergency personnel will respond to aid in the evacuation following notification by and consultation with the Incident Management Team.
OSU-Cascades will perform at least one announced test of the emergency notification and evacuation procedures each calendar year. The employees and students of OSU-Cascades are included in tests of the OSU Corvallis system and the COCC system. The Director of Public Safety and the Director of College Relations at COCC notify and work with the OSU-Cascades Campus Administrator on these tests.
A report documents the date and time of the test, describes the exercise and notes whether it was announced or unannounced. In connection with this report, OSU-Cascades will publicize its emergency response and evacuation procedures to the campus community on the OSU-Cascades website at: http://www.osucascades.edu.
