Privacy, Security, and Refund Policies

Oregon State University recognizes that the growth of online services, including Internet services, has created additional privacy concerns, particularly for its constituents.

Online privacy concerns focus on the protection of "person identifiable" information, which an individual reasonably expects to be kept private. As the term suggests, "person identifiable" information is information which can be associated with a specific individual or entity, including, for example, a person's name, address or telephone number, e-mail address, and information about online activities that are directly linked to them.

Oregon State University knows that you care how information about you is used and shared, and we appreciate your trust that we will do so carefully and sensibly. This notice describes our privacy policy for the OSU Marketplace, which is overseen by the University's Business Affairs and Information Services organizations.

Information Collection

Personal Information

We never sell or rent your information to third parties. When you interact with us, we automatically receive and store certain types of information, such as the content you view, the date and time that you view this content, the products you purchase, or location information associated with your IP address. We use the information we collect to better understand your interests and provide you more relevant OSU Beaver Store offers and promotions.

Cookies

As you browse, cookies may be placed on your computer so that we can match your interests with new services or products. We can then present you with our promotions, sometimes even on other websites, based on your previous interaction with us. This technique does not use personal information such as your name, email address, postal address or telephone number.

Disclosure

Oregon State University adheres to all State and Federal statutes and regulations that prohibit information disclosure for students, employees and other constituents. Oregon State University will not sell, trade, or otherwise disclose any person identifiable information in any manner that is not in conformity with applicable State or Federal statutes.

Oregon State University takes appropriate steps to communicate all privacy policies and guidelines to all employees.

Security

Oregon State University is fully committed to data security. To prevent unauthorized access, maintain data accuracy and ensure the appropriate use of information, we have put in place physical, electronic and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure your information. The security of your information is protected during transmission by using Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) software, which encrypts transmitted information. We will continue to enhance our security procedures as new technology becomes available.

We urge you to take every precaution to protect your personal data. It is important for you to protect against unauthorized access to your access codes and to your computer. Do not share your access codes with others. Be sure to sign off when finished using a shared computer.

The OSU-Cascades website may contain links to other websites and is not responsible for privacy and security practices of those websites.

Return/Refund policy:

OSU-cascades reserves the right to cancel, reschedule or combine program events that are below the minimum participant requirement.  Should a cancellation occur, OSU-Cascades’ staff will contact the participant about the cancellation or about any alternative program event(s).

Refunds for Incubator Memberships. 

Incubator memberships are non-refundable. 

Refunds for On-site, Online, and Vendor Workshops or Events

  1. Registration fees are non-refundable. 
  1. Refunds for workshop costs are available.  To be eligible for a refund, requests must be received no later than 48 hours after the workshop begins. Students who enroll in the workshop, course, or program after that 48 hour deadline will not be eligible for a refund.
  1. Price changes are not retroactive. If the cost of a service is lowered before the service start date, refunds for the difference will be processed for those already registered. If the cost of a service is lowered after the service start date, participants who previously purchased the service will not be entitled to a refund.

Exceptions

Exceptions to the above refund policies may be made for circumstances related to serious illness, travel issues, death in the family, etc. Written documentation must be provided. Determination will be made by OSU-Cascades whether to award a refund or credit.
