Frequently Asked Questions

I don't remember an OSU-Cascades RSVP option when I applied for graduation, what do I do?
OSU has a long tradition of making great effort to give each student his or her own diploma at the ceremony. Students are required to RSVP to OSU-Cascades. The deadline to RSVP has passed. Graduates will have assigned seating. On commencement day we will not able to accommodate students who have not registered to walk. Questions? Please email

If you RSVP that you will walk and then decide not to, please let Enrollment Services know by 5 p.m, Wednesday, June 13 so we can adjust the seating assignments.

I graduated from COCC a few years ago. Can I use my same gown?
Yes, the black gowns used by COCC are identical and we encourage you to re-use the same gown to save money and promote sustainability. You will need to order the tassel for your cap through the BeaverStore to make sure you have the correct color. If you are graduating with your master’s, the gown is different. Places orders online starting in April.

Will there be a rehearsal for the OSU-Cascades ceremony?
We have elected not to hold a mandatory rehearsal. This means that we cannot be flexible with walk-ins on graduation day. If you have not sent in your RSVP and you show up at the ceremony the day of the event, you will not be able to walk. In place of the rehearsal, please plan to report in cap and gown, ready to walk, promptly at 10 a.m. so that we have time to check you in and get everyone assembled in the proper walking order. Accommodation requests related to a disability should be made to Enrollment Services 541-322-3100 by June 8.

Is there a limited number of guests that I can bring to the ceremony?
We know that family and friends are important to our students. Therefore, we are not capping the number of guests you can bring.

I believe that I am graduating with honors. What do I need to do?
If you are graduating with honors, an honor cord will be provided for you when you check-in on the day of the ceremony. Please note that students walking who are graduating summer 2019 and fall 2019 are not eligible for honors this academic year.

Where is my minor or my major option/concentration?
If you have earned a minor or your major has an option/concentration, it will appear on your official transcripts but is not printed on your diploma or in the commencement program.

Can I bring my dog?
We love dogs as much as you do, but please respect that this is a no-dog event.

Where can I buy an official commencement photo?
GradImages, the official commencement photographer, will photograph all graduates at the ceremony. Visit the GradImages website and click on Pre-Event Email Registration. After commencement, you can view pictures online or call the customer service department at 800-261-2576.

How do I obtain my diploma after commencement if I don't walk?

Should you decide not to attend the ceremony, or you graduate in a following term you may have your diploma mailed for a fee, or you may request delivery of your diploma to Enrollment Services at OSU-Cascades at no charge. Please return the "Diploma Release Request" form to Enrollment Services at OSU-Cascades. Please note that this is a free service provided by staff traveling to main campus, and we will not be able to guarantee when your diploma will arrive in Bend.
