Course Description

Everyone has a story to tell, but the idea of sitting down and writing a memoir can be daunting. Fortunately, there’s more than one way to tell your story. In this workshop, OSU-Cascades writing instructor Jenna Goldsmith and diversity coordinator Erin Rook will explore short-form media like poetry and personal essays that can give you an accessible entry into autobiographical storytelling, that can also easily be self-published in print or digital form.  You’ll also:

  • Reflect on who you are and the stories you want to tell
  • Explore a variety of short-form storytelling media, with a focus on poetry and personal essay
  • Practice multiple storytelling approaches
  • Create a final essay, poem, or other short-form memoir
  • Learn from published writers with experience facilitating conversations about identity
