HEALTH AND SAFETY

COVID-19 VACCINATION REQUIREMENT

OSU requires COVID-19 vaccinations for students and employees who learn, work or engage with others in-person during classes or university activities on campus. Students can comply with this policy by confirming their vaccination status through the patient portal, or complete a declination process. Students must have complied with this requirement by Sept. 15, 2021.

FACE COVERINGS AND PHYSICAL DISTANCING

On Aug. 5, 2021 OSU required face coverings in all public indoor settings on campuses and other locations. The policy will be reviewed weekly and any adjustments will be communicated through the COVID-19 Safety & Success website. This follows the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the Oregon Health Authority’s recommendations that both unvaccinated and fully vaccinated people wear a face covering in public indoor settings in response to the spread of the Delta variant of COVID-19.

OSU follows a general COVID-19 Safety and Success Policy which provides guidance on COVID-19 risk reduction requirements and recommendations, including the use of face coverings. The policy also includes provisions regarding positive COVID-19 case notification, isolation and quarantine procedures, and expectations for ongoing participation in contact tracing.

POSITIVE CASE COMMUNICATION

OSU is requesting that all faculty, staff, and students voluntarily notify the university of a positive COVID-19 diagnosis to ensure appropriate support and resources are provided to those who have been exposed or tested positive. This information will only be utilized for the specific purposes of providing support, resources and fulfilling the university’s requirement to assist local public health authorities by reporting positive cases within our community. This confidential information will be protected to the fullest extent allowed by state and federal law and only disclosed for the purposes described above.

COVID-19 Testing AND LOCATION

OSU-Cascades employees and students who are required to comply with OSU’s Vaccination Program and who meet an exemption not to be vaccinated, will be required to test for COVID-19 weekly.

  • Fully vaccinated students and employees who wish to obtain a test may do so.
  • Students experiencing symptoms should contact covid-19@osucascades.edu for testing.
  • Employees experiencing symptoms should contact their health provider for testing

Edward J. Ray Hall, Rm. 302

Wastewater surveillance and genome sequencing will continue at OSU-Cascades; this testing provides campus leaders with another indication of the presence of the coronavirus in the area sampled.
