The DEI Lab was founded by Erika McCalpine in 2021 and made possible by a founding gift from Amy Tykeson and John Teller.


To advance social equity and inclusion in Central Oregon and beyond by creating high quality trainings, tools and strategies for a range of organizational partners, that are designed to suit individual organizational DEI-related needs.


  • To advance equity and create awareness in organizations by equipping leaders and staff to adopt and use new tools and strategies in their workplaces and in their daily lives.
  • To create leaders in the community as training partners and students/interns that take the new tools they have gained and apply them in their daily lives outside of the workplace and the classroom.
  • To grow into a premier DEI Lab for the Pacific Northwest region and the nation.
