Arriving at OSU-Cascades

Fall 2023 Move-In

New Students: Saturday, September 23, 2023: Students will choose a 15 minute check-in time between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.
Returning Students: Sunday, September 24, 2023: 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Residential Education and Housing is planning to provide the best move-in experience in an efficient and friendly way.

Preparing to arrive

OSU ID card

Bring your OSU ID card to check in if you are a returning student. You will need it to access your building and to eat in the dining center.  New students will receive their ID card on move-in day. You will take your picture and pick it up at the ID Center located in Mailroom. Without your OSU ID card, you will be required to show an alternate ID at check-in and our staff will advise you on temporary options.

Receiving mail

Our address is: 1500 SW Chandler Avenue, Bend, OR 97702

You can send packages or mail to your residence hall address no earlier than one week prior to move-in. The mailroom will hold your mail and packages until the end of the first week of Fall Term.

Loft kits

If you would like to sign up for a loft kit please sign up through your housing application in the myHousing portal. The rental charge for a loft kit is $210, which can be billed to your student account in Fall Term. For more information on loft kit reservations, please view the loft kit page.

Personal Property (Renters) Insurance

Residential Education and Housing recommends purchasing Personal Property or Renters Insurance either through your family’s existing account, or through one of many insurance agencies.

Bringing a car

With easy access to grocery stores, restaurants and other destinations within walking distance from campus, many students find bringing a car is not necessary.

If you need to bring a car, register your car before bringing a vehicle. More information about purchasing a residential parking permit can be found on the Transportation Services website.

What to bring

Arriving outside of their scheduled Move-In Day and Time

We have your health and safety in mind and want to provide the most effective move-in process possible while following physical distancing guidelines. Due to the need to coordinate all arrival days and times with students, if you are not able to arrive at your scheduled time, you will need to contact Residential Education and Housing prior to arriving on campus.

Early arrival information

To be eligible for early arrival you must be part of a pre-arranged group (such as Headwaters or pre-college programs) or have a extenuating circumstance.  For more information, please contact Residential Education and Housing at 541-322-3177.

Setting up

Computer Network Connections:
All residence hall rooms have a wired connection and wireless coverage. We recommend bringing a network cable to connect to the wired network, even if you plan on using wireless. Wired connections are faster, more secure, and more reliable than wireless. OSU does not allow the use of personal wireless routers or access points as they can interfere with OSU's wireless coverage.

Room and Board Payment Information:
Room and board charges are billed to your student account at the beginning of each term. These charges will appear on an online eBill statement, which includes all tuition, housing, and other miscellaneous university charges and payments. eBills are processed on the 5th of each month and include all new charges or credits. Residents will receive a copy of their eBill via their university email address (ONID) account.
