MFA in creative writing program hosts open house in Portland
The Oregon State University - Cascades Master of Fine Arts in creative writing program will host an open house for prospective students at Tavern Books in Portland, Ore. on Wednesday, Feb. 17. Attendees will learn about the MFA program and meet current students, academic advisors, faculty and admissions representatives.
Oregon Supreme Court’s decision clears way for OSU campus in Bend
The last legal obstacle standing in the way of Oregon State University – Cascades’ development of a 10-acre campus in Bend was removed today when the Oregon State Supreme Court decided to not consider an appeal filed in opposition to the campus.
“We remained confident throughout this land use process that our site plan for the campus was sound,” said Becky Johnson, OSU-Cascades vice president. “This is great affirmation and a timely recognition.”
Campus long range development planning advisory groups prepare for second work sessions
The community advisory groups working to contribute to Oregon State University – Cascades’ long range development plan are preparing to further refine their recommendations. The advisory groups’ next work sessions will take place on Thursday, Jan. 7.

OSU-Cascades earns nation’s fourth accredited energy systems engineering degree
The rapidly expanding energy systems engineering degree at Oregon State University – Cascades has become only the fourth of its kind in the nation to receive full accreditation from ABET, the body that accredits college and university programs in applied science, computing, engineering and engineering technology.
Lunchtime lecture focuses on mathematical techniques and relationships between species
Most people are familiar with the evolutionary tree that has been used for more than a century to illustrate relationships between biological species. On Wednesday, Dec. 2, Oregon State University – Cascades mathematics instructor Amelia Taylor will show how a marriage of mathematical techniques supports the study of evolutionary, or phylogenetic, trees and the development of the computational tools that are used by today’s biologists to understand relationships between species.
Public engagement launches with teams of experts and community members
As Oregon State University – Cascades creates a long range development plan for its new campus over the next year and a half, it will consider input of four advisory groups recently formed to build on the work of the Campus Expansion Advisory Committee task forces and provide expertise and insight to campus leaders in the areas of arts, culture and enrichment; community integration; sustainability; and health and wellness.
