Class of 2015 sets record as largest in OSU-Cascades history

At its 14th Commencement on Sunday, June 14, Oregon State University - Cascades will set a record when it awards 324 bachelor’s and master’s degrees. This marks a 24 percent increase in degrees conferred over the previous year.

Campus officials anticipate that more than 2,500 family and friends of graduates will attend the ceremonies at the Les Schwab Amphitheater in Bend. Nearly 250 students plan to participate in the ceremonies. 

In total, OSU-Cascades will have awarded more than 2,700 degrees since it was established in 2001.

Oregon State University - Cascades has selected a partner to develop and construct the first student residence and dining/academic facilities that will sit on its proposed site in Bend, representing the four-year university campus long sought by the Central Oregon region.

Adventurer and business leader Emilie Cortes to deliver commencement address at OSU-Cascades

Emilie Cortes, a former investment professional turned adventurer and entrepreneur who now makes her home in Central Oregon, will provide the commencement address at the Oregon State University  - Cascades commencement ceremonies on Sunday, June 14.

“Emilie embodies both professional excellence and personal passion,” said OSU-Cascades Vice President Becky Johnson.  “Her story of taking a risk to find her true professional calling will inspire our graduates as they prepare to embark on their own careers.”

OSU-Cascades M.F.A. student wins national AWP Intro Journals Award in Poetry

Austin Anderson, a second-year student in the graduate creative writing program at Oregon State University - Cascades, has been named the winner of the 2015 Association of Writers & Writing Programs Intro Journal Award in Poetry.

“This is one of the most prestigious and competitive national awards among master’s in fine arts writing programs,” said program director Emily Carr. “M.F.A. programs throughout the United States each nominate two students per genre, and only eight are chosen as winners.”
