OSU-Cascades hosts national First-Generation College Celebration events

To mark the national First-Generation College Celebration, Oregon State University – Cascades will host two events that recognize the achievements of first-generation students and graduates, and provide resources for first-generation students’ academic and personal success. 

The First-Generation College Celebration commemorates the signing of the Higher Education Act of 1965 on Nov. 8 by President Lyndon B. Johnson.

Alexandra Borstad is new leader of Doctor of Physical Therapy program

Alexandra Borstad

Alexandra Borstad, a clinician with more than 30 years’ experience as a physical therapist, researcher and teacher, recently joined Oregon State University – Cascades as a clinical professor and director of the Doctor of Physical Therapy program.

Alexandra Borstad is the new director of the OSU-Cascades Doctor of Physical Therapy program.

Laurie Hill

Laurie Hill brings more than 20 years of executive leadership experience to her role as chief business officer at OSU-Cascades.

As chief executive officer of Central Oregon Pediatric Associates, she oversaw a staff of 27 clinical and allied health professionals and 180 employees across four sites. She also led the development of strategic community alliances to improve regional access to pediatric health.

Ashley Williams

Ashley is a registered professional counselor associate with the state of Oregon and holds a master's degree in clinical mental health counseling from Oregon State University – Cascades. Ashley received a bachelor’s degree in social sciences with a minor in psychology from Portland State University and has certifications and core advocacy training from the Oregon Coalition Against Domestic & Sexual Violence. Ashley has experience working with survivors of intimate partner violence, trauma healing, and individuals managing anxiety, depression and adversity. 

OSU satellite data expert to speak at Science Pub talk on monitoring war zones on Nov. 19

The use of open satellite data to track the physical, environmental and humanitarian impacts in war-torn zones around the globe will be the topic of Oregon State University – Cascades Science Pub titled “Mapping War via Satellite” on Nov. 19.

Maps and data developed by OSU's Conflict Ecology Lab have appeared in the New York Times, BBC, All Jazeera and other global outlets.

Kenny G. Martin

Mr. Martin has approximately 10 years of industry experience followed by 15 years of teaching at OSU.  Before teaching, he worked as a structural engineer for a heavy-timber construction firm, a design engineer in the aerospace industry, and a blast-effects engineer for a firm specializing in risk management and accident investigations.

Eric Zeece to lead Innovation Hub based at OSU-Cascades

Eric Zeece

Eric Zeece, a business leader with more than 25 years of experience has been appointed executive director of the new Central Oregon Innovation Hub based at Oregon State University – Cascades. Zeece will begin his new role on Nov. 11.

As executive director, Zeece will collaborate with a steering committee of diverse regional economic and entrepreneurial stakeholders to develop and provide services that help innovation-based companies in Central Oregon grow, attract investment capital and create jobs.

Eric Zeece will lead the Central Oregon Innovation Hub at OSU-Cascades beginning Nov. 11.
