$5 million gift is largest in OSU-Cascades’ history, supports capital expansion

A $5 million gift to Oregon State University – Cascades will propel the university toward its next phase of capital development, which will include a second academic building for the growing campus. The gift from an anonymous donor represents the largest donation ever received by the Bend campus.

OSU-Cascades student athletes sweep USCSA Northwest Collegiate Ski Conference

The Oregon State University – Cascades men’s alpine ski team has won the United States Collegiate Ski & Snowboard Association’s Northwest Collegiate Ski Conference.  The final competition in the series took place February 11 and 12 at the Bogus Basin Resort in Idaho.

OSU-Cascades professor recognized as a top young engineering educator in country

Chris Hagen, an engineering professor and researcher at Oregon State University – Cascades, has been selected as a 2017 SAE International Ralph R. Teetor Educational Award recipient.  The award recognizes top young engineering educators in the nation.

SAE International is a global association of more than 123,000 engineers and related technical experts in the aerospace, automotive and commercial vehicle industries.

OSU-Cascades holds open house for graduate teaching program

An open house is slated for individuals interested in pursuing a Master of Arts in Teaching degree at Oregon State University – Cascades. Attendees will have an opportunity to meet with admissions representatives and learn about the program curriculum, application requirements and financial aid.

The open house will take place Wednesday, Feb. 15 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the OSU-Cascades Graduate & Research Center located at 650 S.W. Columbia Ave. in Bend.

A GRAMMY preview on tap at OSU-Cascades Science Pub

A special Science Pub will put science on the back seat and bring music to attendees’ ears on Tuesday, Jan. 17, with a presentation of popular music delivered through the eyes of seasoned GRAMMY professional and noted blues and rock historian, Bob Santelli. Santelli is now director of popular music and performing arts with Oregon State University’s College of Liberal Arts. 

OSU-Cascades celebrates Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. with Day of Service, presentation by Franchesca Ramsey

Oregon State University – Cascades will celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on Monday, January 16 with a Day of Service and a public presentation by actress, comedian, writer and activist Franchesca Ramsey. The presentation will be live streamed.

OSU-Cascades Advisory Board to Meet

The Oregon State University - Cascades Board of Advisors will meet on Tuesday, Jan. 31 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the dining/academic building, room 210 on the OSU-Cascades campus in Bend.

The meeting will update board members on progress toward academic, enrollment, development and marketing goals for the campus, and provide an overview of the expansion effort.

Start MFA in Creative Writing in Spring or Fall 2017

Applications for the Oregon State University – Cascades Master of Fine Arts in creative writing are now being accepted for the 2017 spring and fall terms. Accepted students may start the low-residency program in either March or September 2017. 

Both the final deadline to apply for spring term, and the priority deadline to apply for fall are February 1. The final deadline to apply for fall term is April 1.

Twice annual, 10-day residencies for the MFA in creative writing program are held at Caldera, near Sisters, Ore.
