Combination in-class and live streamed courses offered for hospitality professionals

The hospitality management program at Oregon State University – Cascades in Bend will offer two 10-week courses this winter designed for hospitality industry professionals. The courses were made possible through a generous gift from Robin and Curt Baney, owners of the Oxford Suites and the OXFORD hotel in Bend.

Gift establishes Roundhouse Foundation Faculty Scholar of Science Education at OSU-Cascades

A generous gift to Oregon State University - Cascades will support the creation of an endowed scholar position within the Master of Arts in Teaching program. The position will accelerate the impact of science education research underway at OSU’s Bend campus, create new research avenues, and seed teacher development in K-12 science instruction.

More than 60 veterans pursuing degrees at OSU-Cascades

More than 60 students at Oregon State University - Cascades are veterans, having served in the United States military. Among them are students pursuing degrees in computer science, energy systems engineering, kinesiology and natural resources.

Of the veterans enrolled this fall:

Richard Partridge, a tourism and outdoor leadership major, served in the U.S. Army from 2007 to 2013.

Official fall enrollment numbers show steady growth at OSU-Cascades

Oregon State University – Cascades is serving a total of 1,122 students at its new campus and its Graduate & Research Center. The Bend campus’s official enrollment report represents a 10 percent overall increase in OSU-Cascades students and a six percent increase in undergraduate degree-seeking students.

Included in the official fall enrollment total are 60 first-year students and 210 graduate students.  Graduate enrollment increased by 32 percent, primarily due to an increase in non-degree seeking graduate students.

A new Community Connect phone number, email address and web form give community members a convenient way to contact Oregon State University - Cascades with questions, suggestions or concerns of any kind related to the Bend campus.

Residents can now direct queries to 541-322-3196, community.connect@osucascades.edu, or online at OSUcascades.edu/community-connect. Messages will be responded to within 48 hours, Monday through Friday.

Ocean acidification talk on tap at OSU-Cascades Science Pub

It has been called the “evil twin” of climate change. As the oceans absorb carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and surface waters become more acidic, changes to marine ecosystems are likely to follow. Coral reefs, shell-forming organisms and the fish and marine mammals that depend on them are at risk.

Oregon State University Honors College option now offered at Bend campus

Students applying to Oregon State University – Cascades will now be able to apply for admittance to the OSU Honors College. The first cohort of honors students at OSU-Cascades will begin studies in September 2017.

The Honors College awards OSU's most prestigious undergraduate degree, the Honors Baccalaureate. Honors students study in a variety of majors, holding dual citizenship in their academic department and in the Honors College.
