OSU-Cascades provides Zipcars for students, employees, community members

BEND, Ore. –  A new partnership with Zipcar, the world’s leading car sharing network, provides an additional transportation option for students and employees of Oregon State University – Cascades. Included in the partnership are two Zipcar vehicles located on the new OSU-Cascades campus for convenient pick up and return.

The Zipcar vehicles are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week for students, faculty and staff age 18 and older, as well as members of the local community over the age of 21.

Science Pub explores wolf and cattle interactions in Oregon

The wolf populations have grown to more than 1,500 since they were reintroduced into Yellowstone National Park and central Idaho in the mid ‘90s, and wolves have been traced onto Oregon ranchlands.  At Oregon State University – Cascades upcoming Science Pub on Tuesday, Oct. 18, OSU rangeland science expert John Williams will present “Wolves in Oregon: Facts, Research, Issues,” an exploration how wolves and cattle interact on ranches in eastern Oregon.

Campus plan alternatives to be presented at public meeting

The long range development planning effort for the Oregon State University – Cascades’ campus in Bend, Ore., continues with a public meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 18.  The meeting will focus on possible plan alternatives for the expanded campus beyond the current 10 acres.

OSU-Cascades Advisory Board to Meet

The Oregon State University - Cascades Board of Advisors will meet on Monday, Oct. 24 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the Graduate & Research Center, Rm. 232, on Columbia Avenue in Bend, Ore.

The meeting will update board members on progress toward academic, enrollment, development and marketing goals for the campus, and provide an overview of the expansion effort.

Native plants returned to OSU-Cascades new campus with nod to sustainability, student learning

More than 1,200 plants that were harvested from Oregon State University – Cascades’ new campus site in Bend in June of last year are being replanted back onto the campus by students and volunteers today from 9 a.m. to about 4 p.m.

Following their initial harvest, the plants were cared for at no cost through a generous partnership with Winter Creek Restoration & Nursery in Bend.

Oregon hoteliers endow hospitality management faculty position at OSU-Cascades

Oregon State University – Cascades has received a gift from a leading Oregon hotelier family that will support the creation of an endowed faculty scholar position within the university’s recently launched hospitality management program. The position will be the second endowed faculty position at the OSU campus in Bend, Ore.
