This six-day program for high school students introduces you to life on a college campus, plus, you’ll earn a college scholarship. Meet new friends while exploring your academic and career interests with university professors, researchers and other experts, and college students. And, it’s summertime in Bend — so we’re getting outside — with daily adventures led by student leaders and staff.
Everyone has a body! Explore its fascinating inner workings and learn about physiology, muscle function and energy use. Join a fun group activity in OSU-Cascades’ cutting-edge FORCE biomechanics lab and see real-time data that explains how your amazing body moves.
Get a foundational look at digital and traditional art tools offered at OSU-Cascades. You’ll work across mediums and approaches with a focus on contemporary art. Hands-on activities include graphic design, interactive media, drawing and printmaking.
Computing once only attracted people who love math. Now it’s for everyone! This fun tech dive is for future artists, writers and programmers, too. Meet researchers studying our emotions and music, and how to make sure computer science is for everyone. You, too!
Explore the surprising colors and explosiveness of molecules. Roll up your sleeves and see what makes rockets fly, solve forensic mysteries with molecular clues, escape danger through a molecular puzzle and prepare a dazzling show.
It’s the basis of living systems, from oceans to forests. Take a tour beyond what the human eye sees, through a microscope, into the amazing biological, microbial and molecular biology worlds. Step outdoors to explore living things and spend time in a biology lab, doing fun experiments.
Outdoor Recreation
After a morning in the classroom, you’ll head outdoors to Bend’s lakes, rivers and trails. Student leaders in Cascades Adventures and our community partners aim to provide enriching experiences for all levels of outdoor enthusiasts.
On-Campus Activities
From board games to playing pool to watching movies, take a break after a full day of activities. The fitness center is also open to Summer Academy students.
Students who complete the Summer Academy will each receive a $500 scholarship* to OSU-Cascades. The college scholarship can be applied toward tuition for the fall term immediately following graduation from high school.
*The Summer Academy Scholarship is limited to $500 maximum per student per lifetime and can be applied only toward tuition at OSU-Cascades. Summer Academy Scholarships are not available for repeat Summer Academy participation.
