OSU-Cascades first Living Learning Center opens January 2017

A living space on campus is more than just a room to study and sleep in. At OSU-Cascades, our new residence hall is designed to be a community. It’s a place where friendships, ideas and memories are created.

New students are required to live on campus during their first year, with very few exceptions

As part of the First-Year Experience program, OSU-Cascades requires full-time, first-year students to live on campus. Living on-campus is an excellent way for students to connect with key campus resources and build community; it has also been shown to have a positive effect on student success. All newly admitted first-year students who have graduated from high school within the last year are required to live on campus. Exceptions to the live-on requirement are made on a case-by-case basis, typically for students living with parent/guardians within Central Oregon, or students that are married/have dependents. Students must submit an exception request to be considered for an exemption from the live-on requirement.

Returning Students

Upper-division, transfer students and graduate students are also welcome in on-campus housing, and many students choose to live on campus for two or more years. Live in the new residence hall in January 2017! Space is available for returning students - plan ahead before you sign your next lease.

Benefits of on-campus living

By living on campus, you are:

  • More comfortable talking with and getting to know your professors and administrators
  • More connected to the OSU-Cascades community, its people and events
  • More likely to have better grades than those who live off campus
  • More likely to return for your second year of college
