Biography

Bethany Steiert is a part time instructor for the Master of Counseling program at Oregon State University - Cascades. She specializes in K-12 school counseling, having served in the Salem-Keizer, Culver, Redmond school districts and now remotely as a School Counselor for students all across Oregon. Her primary focus is removing barriers and supporting students in accessing their education, both in higher ed and k-12 settings.

Teaching & Supervision Approach

Bethany approaches teaching and supervision by collaboratively equipping students with resources and strategies while challenging them to learn experientially and develop strong self-reflection skills. When supervising, Bethany guides students through understanding themselves as unique counselors and the individual strengths that each brings to the therapeutic relationship. During supervision, she supports students in building a deeper sense of self-awareness as well as understanding the barriers and needs of each individual client. Most of all, she aims to create an environment where every student walks away from her courses having built a stronger cohort of trusted colleagues they can reach out to throughout their career as a counselor.
