Jess Coughlin earned a Master of Science in Kinesiology from San Francisco State University, concentrating on motivation and physical activity. She then pursued further studies at Oregon State University, where she completed a Master of Public Health with a focus on health promotion and health behavior, along with a Ph.D. in Kinesiology specializing in adapted physical activity and sport and exercise psychology.
Prior to joining Oregon State University, Jess served as an assistant professor at Georgia Gwinnett College and Eastern Oregon University. She is also a certified health education specialist and a community health worker.
Research Interests
Jess’ research focuses on developing and improving inclusive physical activity programs for individuals of all ability levels and backgrounds. She aims to leverage tools and theories from health promotion and exercise psychology to enhance access to physical activity and improve health-related quality of life for everyone.
