Dr. JJ Hannigan is an assistant professor in the DPT program where he will lead the clinical biomechanics and research courses.  Dr. Hannigan joined OSU-Cascades from San José State University, where he was an assistant professor in their Kinesiology program.  Dr. Hannigan earned his Ph.D. and M.S. in Human Physiology (Biomechanics) from the University of Oregon, a Master of Athletic Training degree from Saint Louis University, and a B.S. in Exercise Science from Saint Louis University.  He completed his postdoctoral work in the FORCE Laboratory at OSU-Cascades.

Dr. Hannigan’s research focuses on identifying biomechanical risk factors and improving treatment strategies for orthopedic injuries across the lifespan, including running injuries, ACL tears, and knee osteoarthritis.  Recently, he has co-authored several studies on biomechanical risk factors for injury during running and walking in maximally cushioned shoes.  He is an active member of the American Society of Biomechanics, International Society of Biomechanics, and National Athletic Training Association. In addition to being a Certified Athletic Trainer, Dr. Hannigan is also a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. 

When not in the lab, Dr. Hannigan enjoys exploring the Central Oregon trails and camping with his wife and dogs.
