John Seasholtz

John is a historian specializing in medieval Europe, with particular interests in pilgrimage, medieval Spain, and the intersection of economics and religion. His research focuses on the Camino de Santiago and the ways in which urbanization and the growth of the money economy transformed society along the pilgrim roads during the Middle Ages. At Oregon State University–Cascades, John teaches courses in world and United States history.

John has presented his research at academic conferences and to public audiences in the U.S. and U.K. He is also the creator and host of The Scholarly Pilgrim, a podcast devoted to the history of the Camino de Santiago. Before devoting himself full time to history, John worked for more than two decades as a management consultant, advising clients on strategy and finance.
