Biography

Mr. Martin has approximately 10 years of industry experience followed by 15 years of teaching at OSU.  Before teaching, he worked as a structural engineer for a heavy-timber construction firm, a design engineer in the aerospace industry, and a blast-effects engineer for a firm specializing in risk management and accident investigations.

Teaching
Mr. Martin teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in engineering mechanics, mechanical engineering, and structural engineering. His teaching experience includes high-enrollment in-person courses, online Ecampus classes, international programs, and the honors college. He has been the online program manager for Engineering Mechanics since 2021. He serves on committees related to curriculum development and online education. He has offered workshops for industry partners and review courses for professional licensure. He mentors undergrad and grad students, including several years of participation in first-year student mentoring programs. In addition, he has been engaged in outreach activities with local K-12 schools.
