Five percent of students at Oregon State University - Cascades served in military

This fall, students who served in the United States military make up about five percent of the student body at Oregon State University - Cascades. Of the 40 students who are receiving veteran education benefits:

- 12 are women
- 31 represent Central Oregon, six are from elsewhere in Oregon, and three are from outside the state
- Of those who reside in Central Oregon, 24 are from Bend, six are from Redmond, four are from Prineville, two are from Terrebone, one is from Sisters, and one is from Warm Springs
- the primary subjects studied by the current student veterans are natural resources, business administration, human development and family sciences and liberal studies
- One student is pursuing a graduate degree in counseling
- One student plans to pursue law school
- The oldest is 56; the youngest is 23

In addition, two faculty members, counseling instructor Kathy Biles and counselor Vicky Pride served in the military.
