Individuals interested in learning about graduate degrees in teaching, counseling and creative writing at Oregon State University – Cascades are invited to attend an open house to learn about program curriculums, application requirements and financial aid.

The open houses are slated for Wednesday, Sept. 14 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday, Oct. 22 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The events will take place at the Graduate & Research Center at 650 S.W. Columbia Ave. in Bend. Admissions representatives for the Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing will be present during the Oct. 22 open house only.

Admissions representatives, academic advisors and current students, as well faculty and graduates of the programs, will be available to meet with prospective students.

OSU-Cascades’ graduate teaching programs offer the opportunity to earn initial licensure at the elementary or secondary levels, with endorsements in elementary multiple subjects and in middle and high school language arts, social studies, math or science.

The graduate counseling program offers options in school counseling and clinical mental health counseling. Students graduate with course requirements fulfilled for state licensing and national certification.
Both the graduate teaching and counseling programs are nationally accredited.

The MFA in Creative Writing is a low-residency program that incorporates instruction in the craft and profession of creative writing. Students each embark on a long-distance and individualized course of study with a faculty mentor, and twice a year join fellow students for intensive 10-day residences of craft workshops, literature lectures and professional seminars at Caldera Arts near Sisters, Ore.
