Biography

Dr. Lucy L. Purgason is an assistant professor of counseling at Oregon State University – Cascades. She holds licenses and certifications as a licensed school counselor, approved clinical supervisor and national certified counselor. Previously she worked as a school counselor for five years in rural and urban settings, including Title I schools and a school specifically for newcomer immigrant and refugee students. Her research interests include understanding the importance of both online and offline relationships for immigrant and refugee students, and students of other underrepresented groups, in both K-12 and higher education settings. In addition, she also pursues scholarship related to mentoring and supervision, with a specific emphasis on relational-cultural approaches.
