Portland open houses introduce hospitality professionals to OSU online professional development

OSU-Cascades is located in Bend, Ore. where world-class resorts, restaurants and breweries, and a growing hospitality tech industry provide real-world scenarios for in-classroom and online learning.

Two open houses will provide hospitality professionals in the Portland-area information about a new slate of online courses developed through the Oregon State University – Cascades hospitality management program.

The courses focus on professional development topics identified as important for career advancement by regional lodging and restaurant managers and executives. Topics include revenue management and pricing, service automation and technology, online marketing and reputation management, and advanced restaurant management and ownership.

The continuing education courses will be delivered through Oregon State Ecampus, the university’s nationally ranked online education provider. They will be available in a sequence starting in the 2019 academic spring term

The open houses will take place at the OSU Portland Center located at 555 Southwest Morrison Street on:

Tuesday, March 19 from 4 to 8 p.m. – This session will include networking and a presentation by Todd Montgomery, executive-in-residence of the hospitality management program and a course instructor. Attendees will learn about course topics, hear from a current student and meet with admissions experts. Light appetizers and beverages will be served.

Wednesday, March 20 from 9 to 11 a.m. – Attendees will meet with Montgomery and an admissions expert, and learn about the student experience. Pastries and refreshments will be available.

The events are free, but registration is required at osucascades.edu/hmprofessional.

The only degree program of its kind in Oregon, the OSU-Cascades hospitality management program offers courses toward a bachelor’s degree, as well as in-person and now online OSU Ecampus courses for professionals in the industry.
