Rubrics

Observation Rubric: Used for all informal and formal observations throughout the year.

Dispositions RubricUsed during the fall term end of placement team meeting and the spring term end of placement team meeting.  It is also used at the end of winter term by the Cooperating Teacher.

Team Evaluation Rubric: Used during the fall term end of placement team meeting and the spring term end of placement team meeting.

It is very important that you, as the Cooperating Teacher, get very familiar with the rubric BEFORE the first observation.  We recommend doing this with your Teacher Candidate.  It is equally as important that the TC know their success criteria for their observations.  Reviewing the rubrics together will also be a great starting point for co-observing ideas and focus topics for observations.  Also, it can help guide you through where they are starting and where they will hopefully reach by the end of the program.

The purpose of the informal observation in the fall is to get familiar with the rubric, observing, and conferencing with your Teacher Candidate.  We do this observation as a joint observation to help calibrate scores and work with the Univeristy Supervisor to make sure everyone is on the same page.  The observation will help guide co-observing focuses and also co-teaching ideas.  The formal observations also are a great time to get information on how to support your TC in the classroom.
