The Associate of Arts Oregon Transfer Degree

The Associate of Arts Oregon Transfer Degree is accepted at OSU-Cascades. Completion of an AAOT degree ensures completion of all lower division Baccalaureate Core (general education) requirements and junior standing for registration. It may be more efficient to take courses equivalent with the OSU Baccalaureate Core list, than completing the full AAOT. You may want to use the course transfer tables and the tools mentioned above to see which courses transfer from community colleges.

The Associate of Science Transfer Degree

The Associate of Science degree is designed for students planning to transfer credits to a baccalaureate degree program at a four-year institution. It allows more freedom in course selection than the Associate of Arts Oregon Transfer Degree, but does not guarantee that students will be accepted as having completed all lower division comprehensive and general education requirements for a baccalaureate degree.

In selecting courses for this degree, students should consult advisors at their community college and OSU-Cascades about the requirements of their baccalaureate major.

Associate of Science Oregon Transfer - Business

Any student who holds an Associate of Science/Oregon Transfer in Business degree who transfers to Oregon State University - Cascades will have met the lower-division general education requirements (Baccalaureate Core). Students transferring with this degree will have junior standing for registration purposes.

For transfer students graduating from high school in 1997 and thereafter, OSU has a second language admission requirement: two terms of a college-level second language with an average grade of C- or above, OR two years of the same high school level second language with an average grade of C- or above OR satisfactory performance on an approved second language assessment of proficiency. Demonstrated proficiency in American Sign Language meets this second language admission requirement.

Admission to the Business school/program at OSU is not guaranteed upon completion of the ASOT-Business degree. It is strongly recommended that students contact their advisor early in the first term of their ASOT-Business program to be advised of additional requirements as they are subject to change without notice.

The ASOT-Business degree may include up to 12 approved professional-technical credits as electives.

Washington Transfer Students

The Direct Transfer Associate degree awarded by any community college in Washington state will satisfy lower division general (core) requirements at OSU-Cascades. Students will receive junior level standing with an earned Washington Direct Transfer Associate degree of 90 transferable quarter hours or more. OSU-Cascades will accept a maximum of 12 credits in professional, vocational, and technical courses. You must still meet requirements in your chosen major, minor, or professional program.

California Transfer Students

OSU-Cascades accepts the Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum (IGETC) to satisfy lower division (general) core requirements. The IGETC was developed for community college students who plan to transfer to a four-year institution but are undecided about which one and/or undecided about a major. Students interested in the IGETC path to transfer are strongly advised to see an academic advisor prior to enrollment. The minimum requirements are: 36 quarter (24 semester) academically transferable hours, 2.25 cumulative GPA, IGETC Area 1 Group A English requirement (C- or higher grade), IGETC Area 2 Mathematical Concepts requirement (C- or higher grade), and student must be admissible to the last institution they attended.
