PRUSA I3 MK3S+ printer is based on Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM). This printer is very popular and common among hobbyists, and can print a variety of materials (primarily PLA at OSU-Cascades Makerspace). This printer can be used for quick turn modeling and initial prototyping.
The main advantage of Ultimaker S5 is the filament station which allows users to print in a large selection of filament types. The dual extruders also allow the printer to print two types of filament automatically (e.g. a water-soluble plastic for the supports and ABS for the main object). Please talk to Makerspace personnel if you are interested in using this printer.
The resin printer works by exposing a layer of photosensitive liquid resin to a UV-laser beam (SLA). The resin hardens in the desired pattern, and the object is built layer by layer until it is complete. This allows you to print a model with extremely fine details. The Form 3L (SLA) is for final prototypes only, please talk to Makerspace personnel if you are interested in using this printer.
The resin printer works by exposing a layer of photosensitive liquid resin to an LCD screen with a powerful LED light source (MSLA). The resin hardens in the desired pattern, and the object is built layer by layer until it is complete. This allows you to print a model with extremely fine details. The Anycubic Photon M3 Plus (MSLA) is for final prototypes only, please talk to Makerspace personnel if you are interested in using this printer.
The 3D scanner is used to create 3D digital models of real objects. It does this by using its camera to capture data from the physical objects’ surface. The turntable allows images to be quickly taken from multiple angles, and then all the data is compiled together by software to produce a 3D digital model of the object.
The Carbide 3D Nomad is a compact CNC machine that performs 3 axis subtractive manufacturing. This machine can work on materials such as wood, plastics, and aluminum.
The Snapmaker 10W Laser Module is designed for cutting and engraving a variety of materials. The laser vaporizes the material layer by layer automated by Snapmaker’s Luban software.
This smart cutting machine is used to precisely cut out 2D images, graphics, or logos. The most common application is to make vinyl decals (stickers), but many different media can be used including paper, cardstock, foil, fabric, plastic, and thin sheets of softwood.
This home sewing machine can do a variety of utility and decorative stitching. Seamlines are mid-quality, but enough for apparel and light equipment design. This can only work with light to medium weight fabrics.
This industrial single stitch sewing machine can only do single stitches and overcast stitches. Seamlines are all very high quality. This can work with lightweight to heavy duty fabrics (up to 5 layers of denim).
