Learning Through Engagement

  • Co-curricular learning experiences are widely recognized as purposeful engagement of students in the process of acquiring competencies through specific and deliberate behaviors that are transformative in nature and place the student's reflective process at the center of the learning experience. The Office of Student Life, following the OSU-Cascades mission, utilizes the NACE Career Readiness Competencies to guide our practice. Here are some of the sample behaviors for some of these competencies:
  • Display curiosity
  • Advocate for oneself and others
  • Actively contribute to inclusive and equitable practices that influence individuals and systemic change
  • Understand and leverage resources ethically to enhance students college journeys
