Transfer Students

Meetings with advisors and campus tours for prospective transfer students can be arranged through OSU-Cascades Office of Admissions.  All transfer students, including those in the Degree Partnership Program (DPP) complete the required transfer START orientation which includes advising and registration.

All transfer students should read the OSU-Cascades Admissions Transfer Students page which covers general policies; provides tables of approved transfer course articulations; discusses the Degree Partnership Program, and covers transfer degrees such as AAOT, DTA and IGETC. Students transferring from schools in Oregon should review the Biological Science Oregon Community College Transfer Guides with their community college advisor.

Use the Integrative Biology petition process for transfer courses not found in the tables.

Transfer Planning

Students should begin taking math and science courses before transferring to OSU, particularly math and chemistry. Students who wait to take these courses may have a more difficult transition and are likely to extend the total time needed to complete a degree. Generally, transfer students should complete the entire series of biology science courses before transferring as series courses may not work if only partially completed.

Transfer students who choose to take biology should take the introductory, year-long biology series for majors with a lab and should not take non-majors courses. The same is true for chemistry, physics and organic chemistry, though students should review the organic chemistry transfer policy
